House-Made Gnocchi and Much More: Il Fiore in Collingswood
March 1, 2016 | klein
Il Fiore translates to "the flower," a fitting name for this Collingswood restaurant given the way that it continues to flourish. That's largely thanks to the creativity and attention to detail of the chefs, who enlist only top-notch ingredients to recreate authentic Italian dishes. The fact that Il Fiore's dining room evokes "Nona's on a Sunday afternoon," according to its website, doesn't hurt, either.
Entrees showcase some of the classic flavors of Italy. Take the gnocchi di ricotta, for instance. The kitchen team crafts the gnocchi in-house, stuffing the pasta dumplings with ricotta cheese and smothering the resulting pillowy pasta in tomato-basil sauce. There are also meatier dishes, such as the vietllo il Fiore. This entree features veal medallions seared in a garlicky white wine sauce, served with crabmeat and sundried tomatoes. Chicken and fish plates accompany the veal, pasta, and salads on the menu at Il Fiore.
